Living Your Principles

[T]o truly be Good, you have to stand in that group of people and say, “No, I do not agree with your lie. I will not participate in your lie passively just in order to make this a happy party or to make everybody feel fine.” And I feel like a lot of times I am accused of being an asshole or, you know, a caustic presence, because in every situation I try and stay the course of what I think is my own ethical responsibility and that is the pursuit of what is Good, not the pursuit of what is nice.

– John Roderick on an early episode of Roderick on the Line.
